Desulphurisation
Spare machine needs backup
Big blowers (190 m³/min at 500 mbar) produce the process air for a desulphurisation plant in an oil refinery. When one blower broke down immediately the spare machine was started. As not to jeopardise the refinery process an autonomous backup was needed for the spare machine.
More machines in parallel service.
To cope with the large capacity, ARD delivered four blower units in the middle of the night. The connection to the diesel generator (1000 kVA) and the air piping took place next, and before sunrise the backup machines were on standby. With T-pieces, the machines are connected to each other. Check valves in each machine prevent the air flowing away to another machine.
